J. Reuben Clark Law Society
Russia Moscow Chapter
The Russia Moscow Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society was organized in 2013 by Brent J. Belnap, Area Legal Counsel with the Office of General Counsel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The chapter initially cvoered all 16 countries within the Europe East Area of the Church (all former republics of the Soviet Union--except Moldova--plus Bulgaria and Turkey).  Brent was appointed as the first chapter chair, with Vladimir Mochalov, Legal Coordinator in the Moscow OGC office as chair-elect and Denis Smogluck, Administrative Assistant tin the Moscow OGC office as secretary.

The first chapter activity was held on Saturday, 14 September 2013 at the home of Brent and Lorinda Belnap in Pokrovsky Hills.  Presenter was Bill Atkin, Associate General Counsel - International of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who spoke about international religious freedom issues.  The event was followed by a dinner.

In October 2014, three members of the Moscow chapter attended the annual JRCLS leadership training conference at BYU/Aspen Grove.

Another chapter event was held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the home of Brent and Lorinda Belnap in Pokrovsky Hills.  Presenter was David A. Channer, Regional Legal Counsel with the Office of General Counsel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  David's topic:  "The Church and Religious Freedom: Issues and Opportunities."  Approximately 15 chapter members attended the event, with the furthest participant coming from St. Petersburg.

By the end of 2014, over 40 members had been identified or recruited to the chapter, including lawyers in Armenia, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, and Ukraine.
