Family and Church History Department from 2000 to 2008. Turley received a bachelor’s degree in English from BYU in 1982 where he was a Spencer W. Kimball Scholar. He graduated from the J. Sarah (Sally) Barringer Gordon is the Arlin M. Adams Professor of Constitutional  Law  and  Professor  of
History at the University of Pennsylvania. She received a B.A. from Vassar College, a J.D. from Yale Law School, a M.A.R. from Yale Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from Princeton University. Professor Gordon is particularly interested in the legal history of religion and religious peoples in American colonial and national history, with a special focus on the relationship of politics and law to belief and practice in American life. She is a regular commentator in print, radio and television on law and religion and is actively involved in numerous historical associations. Register and pay here.

Bruce C. Hafen was named an emeritus General Authority in 2010 after serving in the First Quorum of the Seventy from 1996 to 2010. He also served as President of the St. George Temple from 2010 to 2013.  Helping to establish the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1973, he became its 3rd Dean in 1985. He also served as president of Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) from 1978 to 1985 and became Provost of BYU in 1989. He has always been a teacher-scholar, drawing increasingly on religious foundations for his scholarly and professional activities. He and his wife Marie have seven children and 10 grandchildren.

Doug Ducey was elected Governor of Arizona in 2014. From 2010 to 2014 he served as Treasurer of Arizona. Prior to entering public service,  Governor Ducey received a Bachelor of Science in
Finance in 1986 from ASU and he worked for many years as CEO of Cold Stone Creamery. He has served in various roles with many community organizations. His honors include his 2004 induction into the W. P. Carey School of Business Hall of Fame, being named Father of the Year in 2009 by the Father’s Day Council benefiting the American Diabetes  Association, and receiving the Tom and Madena Stewart Lifetime Compassion Award from the Arizona chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2012. Governor Ducey and his wife, Angela, are parents of three sons.

District Court Judge Murray Snow will be presenting a CLE on "Excluding Zion's Children From Their American Privileges: Missouri, the Mob, the Mormons and Mountain Meadows". Murray Snow was born and raised in Boulder City, Nevada. He received his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1987 and was the editor-in-chief of the law review that year. He clerked for the Hon. Stephen H. Anderson, U.S. Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit, in 1987-88. Murray is a former partner with Osborn Maledon P.A. He was appointed to the Arizona Court of Appeals in 2002 by Governor Jane D. Hull, and to the United States District Court for Arizona in 2008 by George W. Bush. He is married to Cheri. The BYU Education Week Continuing Legal Education Program will be held in Provo, Utah, on August 19 – 22, 2014.  This year's program will include presentations on religious liberty issues, trial practice and litigation ethics, adoption, family, and immigration law, legal issues addressed by Oliver Cowdery, and more.  For less than $100.00, attorneys can earn up to 20 CLE credits over the four day program while enjoying the inspirational and information classes offered through both the CLE program and the other Education Week courses.   
 
 An overview of each of the classes offered during this year’s CLE program can be found here. The full class schedule for the entire Education Week program, including the CLE courses, will be posted online on June 20, 2014, at http://ce.byu.edu/edweek/schedule.php
In order to attend the CLE courses, you must register as a Campus Education Week participant. In addition to the Campus Education Week tuition, attorneys seeking Continuing Legal Education credit are required to pay a $35 fee for the week to be paid at the door of 214 Crabtree Building (this covers the state CLE costs). CLE credit verification has already taken place for Utah, but participants seeking credit for all other states must check with their respective state bars for verification that the CLE courses will be accepted for credit.

The Greater NYC Chapter of the JRCLS would like to invite you and any guests to a special chapter luncheon on Friday June 20, 2014 at 12:00 pm.  Our special guest speaker for the luncheon will be New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.  The Attorney General will be speaking about religious freedom issues and his office's work in this area throughout New York.  All members of the chapter and student chapter members and guests are invited to attend.  We will hear from the Attorney General at 12:00 pm sharp, so please make every effort to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.  Following the Attorney General's remarks, lunch will be provided.  The luncheon will also be sponsored by the NYLDSPA.

Thomas Professor of Law and editor-in-chief of BYU Studies.  He practiced law in Los Angeles with O'Melveny & Myers, at which time he founded the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies.  He has served as an editor for Macmillan's Encyclopedia of Mormonism and as the General Editor of the Collected Works of Hugh Nibley.  He organized the bicentennial conference for Joseph Smith at the Library of Congress and has served on the executive committee of the Biblical Law Section of the Society of Biblical Literature.

Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.  She has served as a consultant to several corporatons, including Boeing, Dial, Mattel, Motorola, Coca-Cola, DuPont and IBM.  She is a noted columnist and her work has appreared in the Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribuen, New York Times, Washington Post and Reader's Digest.  She is a contributing editor for the Real Estate Law Journal, the Corporate Finance Review and Financial Engineering.  She serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Legal Studies Education.

Dear Law Society Members and Friends,

It's not too late to reserve your seat for our final JRCLS CLE luncheon of the season this Thursday, March 22nd.  Our featured speaker is Jim Gordon, professor and humorist, from BYU.  His remarks are entitled "Reasons for Civility".  It promises to be an enlightening and entertaining event for all. 

James D. Gordon is Assistant to the President for Planning and Assessment at Brigham Young University.  He is also the Marion and Rulon A. Earl Professor of Law at the J. Reuben Clark Law School.  He received a B.A. in Political Science at BYU and a J.D. at the University of California at Berkley.  He clerked for Judge Monroe G. McKay of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and then practiced law in Salt Lake City.  Professor Gordon has also served as Associate Academic Vice President for Faculty at BYU, as an Associate Dean and Interim Dean of the law school.

Mr. Echo Hawk is a former Idaho Attorney General and state legislator and was confirmed Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs on May 20, 2009 by President Obama.   A member of the Pawnee Nation, Mr. Echo Hawk was elected Attorney General of Idaho in 1990, the first American Indian in U.S. history elected as a state attorney general.  A former U.S. Marine, Echo Hawk also served as professor of law at Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School, teaching federal Indian Law, criminal law, animal law, criminal procedure, evidence and criminal trial practice.  He has published several scholarly papers.

Founder and President of the American  Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD).  Dr. Jasser founded AIFD in the wake of the 9/11 attacks on the United States as an effort to provide an American Muslim voice advocating for preservation of the founding principles of the United States Constitution.  Dr. Jasser regularly briefs members of the House and Senate congressional anti-terror caucuses and was one of four panelists invited to testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security on "The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community's Response."  He also recently delivered an address at the Freedom Forum in Oslo, Norway.  Dr. Jasser is a frequent guest and commentator on CNN, Fox News and other national news programs.

His remarks may cover several topics, including:
