Religious Freedom CLE Conference at BYU

The International Center for Law and Religion Studies at BYU will host a 3-day conference in Provo, Utah, July 7-9, 2014, on the theme "Religious Freedom in a Secular World". The program has recently been expanded to 18 CLE credits, including 1 credit of ethics and 1 credit of professionalism and civility, applied for with the Utah State Bar.
Influential scholars and practitioners will address current law and religion topics such as the Hobby-Lobby case to be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. Other current issues to be discussed include same-sex marriage, religious education, religion and business, Free Exercise and Establishment Clause jurisprudence, the history of religious freedom, international religious freedom challenges and many more. BYU Education Week CLE for Lawyers

CLE credit will be available at the annual BYU Education Week August 18-22, 2014 on the BYU campus in Provo, UT. CLE topics will include "Current Trends in Legal Education and the Legal Marketplace," "Ongoing Considerations on Family Law from the Bench," "Presenting Your Case in Court: Best Practices," and many more.  For more information about Education Week and to register, please visit: http://ce.byu.edu/edweek/Please note that there is an additional $35 fee for CLE payable at 214 Crabtree Building at the beginning of Education Week.


Save the Date for the 2014 JRCLS Leadership Conference

We hope all JRCLS chapter leaders, International Committee board members, JRCLS committee members, Clark Society Advisors, and others in leadership positions in the Society can join us at the JRCLS Leadership Conference on October 2-3, 2014.  Meetings begin on Thursday at noon at the Hinckley Center at BYU and will conclude by 4 p.m. on Friday at Aspen Grove.  There will be a CLE presentation given by Professor RonNell Anderson Jones on Thursday afternoon, training by Committee leaders and many other speakers including talks by the Area Legal Counsel.  Mark your calendars now and plan on joining us in October!


Fifth Annual JRCLS West Africa Conference

This year's Conference in the Garden City is billed for the 29th & 30th of August, 2014, at Port Harcourt Stake Center, Liberation Stadium Road, off Aba Road, in the heart of Port Harcourt.  It's packed with speakers from the Area Presidency, JRCLS International Chair, Office of the General Counsel, to prominent members of the Nigerian Bar amongst whom are Chief Barr. Nyesome Wike, Hon. Supervisory Minister of Education of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Religion, the Student and the Law), Professor Festus O. Emiri, Deputy Director-General, Nigerian Law School Yenagoa Campus.(Religious Freedom). The Conference will be rounded off with a Conference dinner with varieties of exotic Nigerian & International dishes. JRCLS Canadian Conference

The Canada Calgary, Canada Edmonton and Canada Lethbridge Chapters are pleased to once again host the JRCLS Canadian Conference to be held October 17-18, 2014 at the historic Banff Springs Hotel in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.  The keynote speaker is Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Other speakers include Susan Champion Sommerfeldt, PhD, RN, The Honourable Madam Justice Carolyn S. Phillips of the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta, and William F.
