JRCLS Annual Fireside—Dr. Katrina Lantos Swett to Speak

The J. Reuben Clark Law Society Annual Fireside will take place on Friday 23 January 2015. We will have the privilege to hear from Dr. Katrina Lantos Swett who will be introduced by her friend, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. Dr. Swett is the Chair of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. The fireside will take place live in the Little Theater of the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah at 6:00 p.m. (Mountain time) with a reception following at 7:00 p.m. The broadcast will be available through the LDS Church broadcasting system at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Mountain time). JRCLS Annual Conference—Register Now, and Enjoy Warm Weather and CLE

500 to 600 lawyers from around the world will attend this year's annual J. Reuben Clark Law Society International Conference at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona (just 10 miles from Phoenix). The conference will begin on Thursday 12 February 2015 and will conclude on Saturday 14 February 2015. Read more. . .

New Chapter Holds Inaugural Meeting

In the heart of the Great Basin and in the shadow of the beautiful Ruby Mountains, the Nevada Great Basin Chapter held its first organizational meeting on January 15, 2015. The charter members of the Chapter consist of ten attorneys and two judges from different religious backgrounds and who practice in diverse areas of the law. Read more. . .


Denver JRCLS Chapter Brings Together Members, Catholic Lawyers Guild, and Tenth Circuit Judge for Religious Liberty Discussion

In October 2014, the Denver Chapter of the JRCLS organized and hosted a lunch-time event to discuss recent developments in religious liberty law and, in particular, the Tenth Circuit and Supreme Court decisions in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores. Speaking at the gathering was Judge Timothy M. Tymkovich, who drafted the Tenth Circuit opinion. The JRCLS invited Catholic Lawyers Guild members to the event, and over 100 attorneys from private practice, in-house positions, and government posts attended. Read more. . .


Moscow Chapter Focuses on Religious Freedom

Braving the November chill and heavy traffic, fifteen members of the Moscow, Russia, chapter of the JRCLS were welcomed at the home of Brent and Lorinda Belnap for the second meeting of the chapter on November 14, 2014. The hospitality of the Belnaps, including delicious food, fueled the socializing and introductions, as several in the chapter had not met before. Read more. . .


Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the JRCLS Hosts 5th Annual International Religious Liberty Award Dinner and Reception

On October 9, 2014, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, Mid-Atlantic Chapter hosted the 5th Annual International Religious Liberty Award Dinner and Reception. In conjunction with the J. Reuben Clark Law School's International Center for Law and Religious Studies, the 2014 International Religious Liberty Award was presented to Congressman Frank Wolf from Virginia for his many years of support and work for religious liberty. Profiles in Service

Congratulations to JRCLS member Amanda Hopper who has been elected as the district attorney in Sutter County, California. Amanda was elected in November as the first new district attorney in 30 years, and she secured 61% of the preliminary vote.
