Upcoming Rex Lee Award Lunch

Please save the date for the JRCLS Mid-Atlantic Chapter's annual Rex Lee Award Lunch on May 31, 2016 at 12:45 pm at the Mayflower Hotel, 1127 Connecticut Ave, NW, Washington, DC.  This year's Rex Lee Advocacy Award will be presented to Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm Stewart.  Following the presentation of the award, Judge Thomas B. Griffith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit will moderate a panel discussion featuring Beth S. Brinkmann, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Carter G. Phillips, Chair of the Executive Committee of Sidley Austin, LLP, Judge Patricia A. Millett, judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Gregory G. Garre, Partner at Latham & Watkins LLP and former Solicitor General of the United States, and Judge Sri Srinivasan, judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Elder Oaks to Speak at Inaugural UK & Ireland JRCLS Conference

The UK & Ireland Inaugural Annual Conference, Virtue, Liberty & Law: Rendering Unto Caesar and Unto God, will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Chorley Stake Centre in Preston, England.  The Conference will feature a keynote address by Elder Dallin H. Registration Open for Religious Freedom Annual Review

Registration is open for the 2016 Religious Freedom Annual Review scheduled for July 7-8.  Once again, the Annual Review will be open to both lawyers and non-lawyers who are interested in religious freedom challenges in the United States.  Topics will include religious freedom issues in public schools and in the workplace, communication about religion and religious freedom in the public square, global religious freedom issues, as well as any recent Supreme Court cases regarding religious liberty, with CLE credits available.  Speakers will include Elder Lance B. Wickman, General Counsel and Emeritus General Authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Daniel I. Mark, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Villanova University and Commissioner for the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).  For registration and more information, click here.  Early bird registration ends May 15

 

Save the Date for the Annual Leadership Conference

The JRCLS Leadership Conference will be held on September 29-30, 2016 at BYU and at Aspen Grove.  
Highlights of the conference include leadership development and training, the annual sunrise hike to Stewart Falls, and keynote addresses by Elder Bruce A. Carlson, Emeritus General Authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and D. Gordon Smith, the newly announced Dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School.
