Inspirational Thought

When we attack people with whom we disagree, we injure or even end our ability to resolve disputes.  Each time we raise the temperature in the discourse it is harder to reconcile differences.  We raise a barrier of hate and anger.  Elder Richard L. Evans counseled: “We are in a sense as much responsible for what we do to others with our words as we could be with weapons.  In a sense, you can hit a man with words – ‘words as hard as cannonballs’ as [Ralph Waldo] Emerson said in [Self-Reliance].”

—Constance K. Lundberg
