J. Reuben Clark Law Society

JRCLS 2016 Annual Conference in San Diego, February 11 - 13

The Law Society’s Annual Conference is just around the corner and promises to be an excellent event, including informative CLE courses, memorable activities, and uplifting speakers, all in the beautiful San Diego area. As the average temperature in San Diego in February is 64° F, take advantage of the opportunity to get out of the cold, earn CLE credit, socialize with other members of the Law Society, and reenergize yourself!
The Conference will be held over President’s Day weekend, February 11-13, 2016, on the campus of the University of San Diego (USD) and surrounding area.
The program kicks off on Thursday with hourly tours of the Mormon Battalion Historic Site in Old Town San Diego. Law Society chapter leaders and student members will also meet together on Thursday, followed by a keynote address by Elder L. Whitney Clayton of the Presidency of the Seventy at the USD Law School, and reception afterward.
On Friday, the Women-in-Law will host a breakfast for all women attendees and interested guests. Plenary sessions will be held on Friday covering topics such as Religious Liberty and Leadership, along with various breakout sessions and a Section Meetings box lunch.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum will be the site for a delicious dinner on Friday night, catered by the legendary Phil’s BBQ. Jeff Benedict, author of The Mormon Way of Doing Business: Leadership and Success Through Faith and Family, will provide a keynote address that evening. Law students will end the night with their own social event.
Saturday meetings at USD will include a plenary session with Deano Ware, attorney for the Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church, a “Meet the Judges” session where attendees can meet in small groups with members of the judiciary, and reports from LDS Area Legal counsel. The Conference will conclude with a lunch social for all attendees to catch up with old friends and meet new members of the society.
