J. Reuben Clark Law Society

Profiles in Service

Since our last newsletter, several Law Society members have accepted significant church callings. Thank you for your willingness to serve!

First, Jeffrey Lane Shields of Salt Lake City, an attorney at Callister, Nebeker & McCullough, has been called as the president of the Canada Toronto Mission. Ray Mickelsen Beck of Murray, Utah, an attorney at Cohne Kinghorn, was called as president of the Russia Yekaterinburg Mission. Karl (Kasey) Nelson Haws of Redlands, California, attorney at Mundell, Odlum, and Haws LLP, was called as president of the Mexico Villahermosa Mission. Additionally, Marc Burton Robinson of Stockton, California, an attorney at Robinson Bradford LLP, was called as president of the Arizona Scottsdale Mission.

Three Society members were also sustained as Area Seventies during April’s General Conference: Arnold B. Cavalcante of Pernambuco, Brazil, an attorney and managing partner at Barreto Cavalcante Avodgados; J. Scott Dorius of Turlock, CA, a partner at Triebsch, Frampton, Dorius, and Lima; and Michael A. Gillenwater of Sellersburg, Indiana, a city attorney.

Last, but not least, Elder Evan A. Schmutz was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy, also during General Conference. Elder Schmutz worked for several law firms from 1984 to 2016, most recently as a shareholder for Durham, Jones & Pinegar.
As always, please feel free to contact the media committee if you would like to highlight any individual serving within or outside of a church capacity. We would love to feature them in Profiles in Service.
