Student Leadership

SCB | DIRECTORY

The Law Society has officially recognized Student Chapters at over 128 law schools. Many students at schools without officially recognized chapters are also members of the Law Society's regional At Large chapters. Individual student chapters are organized under student chapter leaders at the law school level. Both recognized chapters and student members of the At Large chapters receive direction, oversight, and aid from the Law Society through the Student Chapters Board (the "SCB"—students) and the Chapter Relations Council (the "CRC"—attorneys and students).

Student Chapters Board

The SCB is a group of student leaders selected annually from the student chapter membership to facilitate training, communication, and support among the student chapters. It is generally responsible for addressing the specific needs of student chapters, communicating the problems and successes of student chapters, and planning regional, national, and international student events, conferences, and training for new presidents.

The Executive Committee of the Law Society, at the recommendation of the current SCB, selects the Chair-elect of the SCB each year. The SCB Chair-elect then recommends for Executive Committee approval the other members of the SCB for the new year. The SCB consists of several regional liaisons and committee chairs. Each recognized student chapter is overseen by an SCB regional liaison. Additionally, throughout the year, student chapter presidents or members may be asked to participate on various SCB committees.

Each spring, the SCB Chair-elect will accept nominations for the SCB positions for the next school year.
