Become a Pre-Law Student Visitor

The J. Reuben Clark Society is a group of attorneys, law school graduates, and law students who support our Mission Statement of religious conviction, public service, and professional excellence in the preparation for, and the practice of, the law. Members of the Law Society also subscribe to a central axiom that the rule of law serves to promote fairness and virtue in society. There are over 7500 members of the Law Society, including approximately 2000 student members.

Of course, we hope undergraduate students will consider the legal profession over other career options, and ultimately realize their potential to become leaders in the legal community and advocates for fairness and equality.

Although you cannot become a member of the Law Society until you enroll in law school, we invite all Per-Law Students of the LDS faith, and of other faiths, who support our mission statement to use this website as Pre-Law Student Visitors. Registering for this website is free for all Pre-Law Student Visitors.

We believe this website can help you as you prepare for law school and begin the process of deciding where to attend law school. By registering as a Pre-Law Student Visitor, will have access to the following information:

Student Chapter Information:

You can access information about each officially recognized student chapter at more than 75 law schools around the nation. Information about these student chapters is updated by the student presidents at individual law schools, provides a description of each chapter and a calendar of events/activities at each school, lists the student members and alumni from each school, and provides the contact information for the president of each chapter.

Events:

You may receive special invitations to national conferences, regional conferences, and local events, including lunches, firesides, symposiums, service opportunities, and live and recorded webcasts.

The Clark Memorandum:

Pre-Law Student Visitors will receive an electronic copy Law Society's Semi-annual magazine, The Clark Memorandum, as well as have access to other helpful articles and other publications.

Course Curriculum:

You can access LDS Perspectives on the Law, a selection of course materials written by LDS attorneys on the practice of law.

Please note that the profiles of all Pre-Law Student Visitors will be deleted in the fall of each year. If you are registered as a Pre-Law Student Visitor, then you must re-register (or update your profile) when you begin law school to specify your class year and school — you will then become a student member of the Law Society. Pre-Law students who wish to remain on the site must re-register each year before attending at a law school.
