Women in the Law Resources - Advocates

The WIL Committee encourages JRCLS members to submit biographies of women in the law and of advocates for women in the law that can be posted on our website as a way of connecting JRCLS women members and of educating each other about the diverse and varied backgrounds of our members.  The WIL Committee hope that the biographies provided here of the members of the WIL Committee will encourage communications from JRCLS women members that can be shared on the WIL website and that will help the WIL Committee better serve the JRCLS women members.

Wendy C. Archibald

Wendy C. Archibald’s life both personal and professional follows no known pattern. She personifies the term “non-traditional.” She graduated from the J. Reuben Clark law school in 1993 after a successful career as the Vice President of a tour company. In that capacity, she helped prepare specialty, international performances for bands, choirs and drill teams. She then escorted these groups as they performed at bowl game halftimes, Olympic venues, and World Expositions. A dynamic experience but not exactly the most conventional preparation for law school.

During law school, Wendy pursued her many and varied interests working with the Utah legislature, as a member of the Moot Court Board of Advocates and president of the Women’s Law Forum. Immediately following law school, Wendy worked for three years as a staff attorney for Congressman Bill Orton and enjoyed the legislative process in issue areas including health care reform and education. During her tenure with the congressman, she married and started her family of two daughters. She left full time employment to attend to her children and started part time work as a corporate trainer and partner in her own firm, Archibald Mahoney, LLC.

Until recently, she worked out of her home office and has trained and consulted for a number of clients. Woven into her work as a mother and corporate trainer, Wendy also serves as a Guardian ad Litem in both federal and state court. Further, Wendy was the 2006 President of the BYU Law School Alumni Board and she continues her service and commitment to advancing the mission of the law school and LDS attorneys everywhere.
